When designing a new intake system for a turbocharged engine, filtration, airflow, and heat are key factors.
Our do88 intake system was engineered to provide the turbo with good filtration, improved airflow, and low intake temperatures. One design challenge for this B58 Gen 2 intake system is its location, as it is located directly next to the exhaust manifold, which quickly places thermal stress on this location in the engine bay.
High intake air temperatures are detrimental to engine performance, as the turbo would have to build pressure with hotter, less dense air. Therefore, a fully sealed intake system is the only way to ensure IATs are kept to a minimum. However, a fully sealed system has a challenge, as it creates a restriction by only having an air intake in the bottom of the air box. During development, we realized the system needed a secondary air intake to overcome this limitation. Our sealed air box also features a heat shield to minimize radiant heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To ensure sufficient air volume around the filter, we designed a large 7" air box, which of course also allows space for struts.
To replace the stock intake hose, we designed a smoother, larger carbon tube. It starts with a diameter of 105mm (4.1") and tapers seamlessly to fit the turbo's inlet pipe. Attached to the intake pipe is our large, custom-designed air filter. The filter is made of tightly knitted cotton gauze for superior filtration. It is washable and reusable for optimal performance and longevity.
The system is available in various layouts. It is compatible with the OE turbo inlet pipe, but also with do88's CNC-machined turbo inlet pipes. Our turbo inlet pipes are available in two different versions: for OE or Pure 800 Hybrid turbo. Both feature a huge 89mm (3.5") hose connection to the inlet pipe and have a carefully Calculated, flow-optimized radius that significantly improves airflow. With the addition of the do88 Turbo Inlet Pipe, all bottlenecks in front of the turbo are effectively removed to prevent overshoot even at high power outputs!
Tests conducted on our SuperFlow SF1020 flow dyno clearly demonstrate the importance of this optional turbo inlet pipe. The intake system alone offers a substantial 15% increase in airflow. When combined with the do88 Turbo Inlet Pipe (for OE Turbo), the overall airflow increases by an impressive 23%! We highly recommend this combination.
The original air box and turbo intake hose are designed with elements that minimize the noise generated by the turbo and air intake. Specifically, the factory intake hose features two sound silencers to ensure quiet turbo operation. In contrast, our intake system eliminates these noise-reducing elements, allowing for audible turbocharger spool and intake noise

The kit is available in three versions, depending on the turbo application:
1. Without the do88 turbo inlet pipe. The intake system connects to the OE plastic turbo inlet pipe.
2. With the CNC-machined do88 turbo inlet pipe*, designed for the OE turbo. Read NOTE*
3. With the CNC-machined do88 turbo inlet pipe* designed for the Pure 800 turbocharger. Read NOTE*
*The do88 turbo inlet pipe does not have a crankcase heater element, which means the car's wiring connector will be disconnected. We recommend performing a custom tune to avoid CEL (Check Engine Light).
